Three Quarter Helmets
three quarter “open face” helmets were a big developement in the early 1950’s when a professor at usc developed a new form of head protection. These helmets usually had a hard outer shell, and an impact absorbing foam middle layer, and a padded inner liner for comfort. This marked the beginning of the era of the modern motorcycle helmet.
Like a full face helmet, the 3/4 motorcycle helmet offers rear skull protection. it also allows for more airflow around the head, increasing comfort, especially in warmer weather.
